Centre de Recerca i Innovació de Catalunya (CRIC) is a multidisiplinary Research and Engineering Centre founded in 1997 and based in Barcelona, offering Research and Development services for solving technical and scientific problems. CRIC is specialized in three R+D+i departments, each with their own high level expertise:
Industrial Physics and Electronics (IPE) :
Development of new technologies for industrial inspection/monitoring (ultrasound; optical spectroscopic sensors; magnetic induction spectroscopy; image processing) and development of new industrial processes (plasma;radiofrequency/microwave, pulsed electric fields, predictive models).
Bioengineering (BIO) :
Integrated analytical instrumentation (optical & electrochemical) and bio)sensors.
Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITT) :
ITT department has extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in telecommunication and software development.
In the telecommunication field, ITT has expertise in sensors and Wireless Sensor Networks based on Zigbee / IEEEE 802.15.4, and other low power wireless technologies, as well as in Wi-Fi and WiMAX , with in-house capabilities in digital, analog and RF electronics, essential for the development of low cost and low power sensor units. With expertise in: residential, industrial, agricultural, and metropolitan environments, as well as for body sensors. We have experience in mobile telephony such as GSM/GPRS/3G/Femtocells, and in GNSS/GPS/DGPS location technology.
In the IT field, CRIC’s research activity is focused on the areas of information technologies and artificial intelligence applying Multi-Agent Systems, intelligent agents and intelligent Technologies such as Expert Systems (Rule Based, Case Based Reasoning), Neural Networks, Fuzzy Systems, CSPs, data mining and others. Several of the applications developed in CRIC are encapsulated as Web Applications using cutting-edge technologies. We also implement web-based e-learning Platforms and Social Networks, and apply techniques as Natural Language Programming, Semantic Analysis, and Opinion Mining.
