I joined the army at the age of 19 and continued a successful career from 1985-96. When I got out I decided I would like to seek a career in the Merchant Navy. I became a coxswain for a Fast Rescue craft and then Efficiant deck hand. This pushed me forward and eventually I was recognised for putting in the effort. I was then promoted to Bosun(deck supervisor)and then Able seaman and an Advanced Medical aider. In early 2004 I went to work in Iraq as a close protection officer, although the contract fell through after 3 months. I returnrd to the North sea. I persued a career in the maritime industry and with my military skills and my Maritime skills they would work very well. I worked in Nigeria 4 times, the first 3 as a patrol boat coxswain, after my last tour with Drum-Cussac, I was recognised and put for a position as an Offshore Security Manager with another company. I am still currently on the same project, although the client I was first employed by is now my employer.
