The British Association of Private Security Comapnies (BAPSC)
BAPSC works to promote the interests and regulate the activities of UK based firms that provide armed defensive security services in countries outside the UK.

The BAPSC aims to raise the standards of operation of its members and this emergent industry and ensure compliance with the rules and principles of international humanitarian law and human rights standards. As the need for armed security grows the BAPSC and its members recognise that their objectives will best be achieved through effective self regulation in partnership with the UK Government and International Organisations.
International Peace Operations Association (IPOA)

The idea for the International Peace Operations Association (IPOA) stems from the belief that more can be done to ensure that international efforts to end conflicts succeed and a clear recognition that the private sector can play a larger role to fundamentally improve peace and stability aspirations of societies affected by conflict.
While IPOA acts as a trade association, it was not founded by members of the industry, but rather by individuals with backgrounds in the non-governmental, academic and business sectors who recognized the benefits brought by the private sector to the victims of conflict. Amongst them, Doug Brooks is the President and a founding member of IPOA.
The Global Security Challenge
The Global Security Challenge aims to identify, explore and foster innovation in the field of homeland and national security. The annual competition is unusual in that it awards cash grants to the winners. It was started in 2006 by London Business School students who wanted to empower security entrepreneurs, and support the successful development and commercialization of novel security technologies.
RUSI - The Royal Unted Services Institute

RUSI was founded in 1831 at the initiative of the Duke of Wellington. Its original mission was to study naval and military science, what Clausewitz called the ‘art of war’.
It still does so: developments in military doctrine, defence management and defence procurement remain central elements in the Institute's work. But in recent years RUSI has broadened its remit to include all issues of defence and security, including terrorism and the ideologies which foster it and the challenges which we face from other man-made or man-assisted threats and from natural disasters.
RUSI is a unique institution; it is the oldest surviving united services institute in the world. It embodies nearly two centuries of forward thinking, free discussion and careful reflection on defence and security matters.
It can achieve this thanks to its long-standing base in London's Whitehall and also through regional offices in the Gulf and the United States.
RUSI is a British institution, but operates with an international perspective. It has amassed over the years an unequalled expertise in its field and an outstanding reputation for quality and objectivity. RUSI's heritage and reputation, its location close to the Ministry of Defence and other ministries in Whitehall and its range of contacts with key opinion formers both inside and outside government, gives unique insight and authority.
