Degrees in Electrical Engineering (BASc.) and Physics (MSc., and PhD). Currently lead research into integrated surveillance and response for military force protection, civilian port security, and counter piracy at the NATO Research Centre. Started and led the Maritime Information and Knowledge Management Group at Defence R&D Canada, working with Canada’s multi-agency Maritime Operations Centres. Career in defence research includes remote sensing and imaging, pattern recognition, human-machine interaction, operations research, sound and vision, military experimentation, non-lethal weapons, and experimentation with human subjects.
